After traveling to Europe many times, the view out of the plane window began to fascinate me. As the plane began to descend, I would see landscapes in a different way. The landscapes became geometric color areas of texture.|
The Italian landscapes took on their own color palette of warm tones of greens, reds, and purples. The landscapes approaching Amsterdam became shades of green, blue and gray in their free form and geometric designs. Upon returning to the Detroit area, the landscapes became neutrals in shades of gray.
I began to create different series of paintings which are vividly still in my thoughts. I have expressed these ideas using single canvasses and multi canvasses, sometimes up to ten as in a decade of canvasses, many times diptychs and triptychs have been used.
These multi canvasses express the impression one receives when flying over land while the view is interrupted and begun again, and again.
